CNC Machine Operator - 1st Shift
What You Will Own
- Operate assigned CNC machines (Vertical Mills, Lathes, Swiss Lathes, Mazak 5-axis horizontals) safely and independently, contributing clean, documented spindle hours every shift.
- Read prints, router sheets, and traveler work instructions accurately; perform in-process inspection using calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges; log results and downtime codes correctly.
- At Level I: recognize tool wear signs and flag them before failure; escalate any out-of-tolerance condition immediately and correctly, every time.
- At Level II: independently troubleshoot chatter, tool life drops, and dimensional drift using a logical sequence; hold tolerances in the +/-.0005" range while accounting for thermal drift and machine-specific behavior.
- Catch potential nonconformances before they become MRB events -- zero containment events from operator error is the baseline, not a stretch goal.
- At Level II: actively mentor a Level I machinist on your machine.
What You Bring
Required (Level I):
- High School Diploma, GED, Trade/Vocational Certificate, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to operate CNC machine tools safely and follow traveler work instructions.
- Basic measurement skills: calipers, micrometers, gauges.
- Attention to detail and willingness to ask when something does not look right.
Required (Level II):
- 3+ years of relevant CNC machining experience.
- High School Diploma, GED, Trade/Vocational Certificate, Associate's Degree, or equivalent.
- Proven ability to interpret GD&T, set up 5-axis or multi-axis jobs independently, and troubleshoot dimensional issues without guesswork.
- Demonstrated track record of zero MRB events from operator error.
Nice to Have (either level):
- Experience on Mazak 5-axis horizontals or DMU-style machines.
- Eurotech lathe experience (active plus -- we are expanding those lines).
- Background in aerospace or defense manufacturing; familiarity with AS9100 quality systems.
- Comfort with rotary/tilt axis offset strategy and bonus tolerance calculation.
Pay and Benefits
